I advocate for the value and richness of children’s early experiences and its impact on their future in three interconnected ways: By building and questioning knowledge and practice, researching ways in which we can empower children, and teaching and critically evaluating recent advancements in the field.

Learning SPECIALIST

I advocate for children’s well-being through positive learning environments focusing on holistic development. I believe that social, emotional, and cognitive competence and skills contribute to children’s disposition. This, in turn, is what builds human capital for a sustainable world, within which children recognize their capabilities, own their actions, and promote kindness.

Researcher

The aim of my research program is to build knowledge about children’s social power, how it develops and is fostered by the world around them, interpret how children learn through family interaction, and gain insight into children’s literacy (in its contemporary form) through language and identity. I achieve this by studying behaviour through naturalistic observation. 

TEACHER

My teaching and learning philosophy run parallel to how I engage in my own learning process: to create, change, and critique my teaching beliefs, strategies and tactics throughout my career by asking questions of myself, students, and colleagues. My goal for students, as well as myself as a teacher, is to gain and utilize a variety of tools to become lifelong reflective thinkers and active learners.
